Each floret, though often inaccurately referred to as a petal, is a distinct flower in its own right. Dahlia flower forms exhibit variability, with one head per stem, ranging from compact sizes, as small as 5 cm (2 in) in diameter. The stems are characterized by their leafy structure. While many dahlia species do not yield scented flowers, they compensate with a vibrant array of colours, showcasing most hues, though blue is an exception in their palette.
